Filmmaker Óscar Orlando Torres was born in in the rural village of Cuscatazingo, El Salvador. He was caught in the crossfire of the brutal civil war raging in his country and escaped to the United States in Against all odds he was reunited there with his mother and his two brothers. Since he could not attend school, due to lack of documents, he spent the day watching movies on television and there his love for cinema began to grow. He participated in the Latin American Studies program at UC Berkeley but dropped out to move to Los Angeles and pursue his dream of becoming an actor. His first job was as a courier for a talent agency that later represented him in appearing in commercials. There he rose through various positions until he became a personal assistant to an actress. In he met Luis Mandoki, who directed an advertising spot in which Óscar participated and it was then that he told him the story of the autobiographical script that he had written. A year later Innocent Voices was filmed in Xalapa (Veracruz). After this he produced the short films En tus manos and La vida no es Igual. As an actor he participated in television series in series such as ER, First Monday and Any Day Now. Among his latest projects as a director
