Oknha (Khmer: ឧកញ៉ា, Ŏknha[ʔok.ɲaː]) is a Khmer honorific. It has different meanings depending on the period it was used.
Linguistics

The translation of "Oknha" is not unanimous. Leaning on the meaning of Vietnamese title "Quốc công", some have translated the title of oknha as "Duke" while some others favour the more mercantile version of tycoon.[2]
History

[edit]In premodern times, Oknha were envoys appointed by the king, who were expected to perform a wide variety of duties, take elaborate oaths of loyalty, and present the monarch with regular gifts. Oknha was one of the noble titles, above Preah (ព្រះ[prĕəh]) and below Neak Oknha (អ្នកឧកញ៉ា[nĕəʔʔokɲaː]).[3]
The term is used as such in modern Khmer inscriptions found in Angkor, such inscription IMA 9 dating back to 1539 and recalling the good deeds of "uk-na Samarasangram".[4]

Norodom Sihamoni (Khmer: នរោត្តម សីហមុនី, [nɔˈroːɗɑmsəjˈhamoniː]; born 14 May 1953) is King of Cambodia. He became King on 14 October 2004, a week after the abdication of his father, Norodom Sihanouk.[1]
He is the eldest son of King Sihanouk and former Queen consort Norodom Monineath and is the fourth monarch from the royal House of Norodom. Before his selection by a nine-member throne council as the next monarch, Sihamoni served as Cambodia's ambassador to the United Nations and UNESCO. He was educated in Czechoslovakia and was known for his work as a cultural ambassador in Europe and as a classical ballet instructor when he was still a prince. During his reign, Sihamoni has continued his cultural advocacy alongside supporting various philanthropic causes, while balancing his role as a constitutional monarch amid Cambodia's political developments.
