He began his playing career with Cork United then moved to West Ham United in 1948 and Preston North End in 1956, retiring in 1961. As a manager, O'Farrell led Bournemouth from 1965 to 1968, then managed Leicester City until 1971. He had a brief spell at Manchester United in the 1971/1972 season, managed Cardiff City in 1973/1974, and coached the Iran national team from 1974 to 1976 before returning to Bournemouth for two more seasons.

So, if all the talk is to be believed, the people we're looking at to replace Moyes are the likes of Van Gaal, Ancelotti, possibly Klopp, and less so outsiders like Guardiola and Mourinho.
But one thing that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is that Manchester United have never had a non-British manager. I always thought that was actually one of the big reasons we went for Moyes tbh, or should I say Fergie went for Moyes. It's 'tradition' to appoint a British manager at United, and Moyes was the best out there at the time.
But how do people feel about United appointing a foreign manager for the first time? Is it a case of not caring about nationality, and just getting the best man out there, or are there any people out there that place real importance on United's tradition of always having a British manager and would actually prefer to continue that tradition if possible (even though, realistically, there isn't anyone good enough out there atm)?...I know its not the same, but when England hired Sven back in the day, I know there was quite a lot of fuss about England having a non English manager.
